The Temporal Lobes can be seen forming the ventral portion of the cerebral hemispheres in this mid-coronal view through the brain. As can be seen from the ventral surface of the brain as shown in Figure 19b, (hyperlink to fig19b) the cerebellum of the hindbrain lies posterior to the temporal lobes. The temporal lobes form both the lateral and medial surfaces of the cerebral cortex in this mid-coronal view. The temporal lobes lie just anterior to the occipital lobes when seen from the lateral surface of the brain. This lateral view is shown in Tutorial 21.
