The Lateral Fissure is found on the lateral surface of the cerebral hemispheres. This indentation in the surface of the cerebral cortex forms a partial boundary between the frontal and parietal lobes above and the temporal lobes below. Because the distinction between a fissure (deep furrow) and sulcus (shallow furrow) is arbitrary, some resources or texts you encounter will call this furrow the lateral sulcus.
