The Basal Ganglia is a group of large nuclei located deep within the cerebral hemispheres. The nuclei of the basal ganglia include the caudate nucleus, putamen, and the globus pallidus. Although much remains to be discovered about the function of these basal ganglia nuclei, they appear to modulate motor behavior in a number of complex ways. More information about the basal ganglia is provided in Tutorials 32 and Tutorial 33.
