Following the crossing of some optic nerve fibers at the chiasm, the visual information will be processed next within the thalamus for the primary visual pathway and for the secondary visual pathway within the midbrain. The thalamic nucleus associated with the primary visual pathway is the Lateral Geniculate Nucleus. As described in Figure 15, this nucleus serves as a relay station between the eyes and primary visual cortex.
