Each Sensory Nerve consists of the axons that project from sensory neurons located in the periphery of the body. Sensory nerves convey sensory information to the brain. They enter the vertebral column and spinal cord at 31 different points. Each conveys sensory information from a particular somatosensory region. The somatosensory reception area associated with each sensory nerve is called its dermatome.
