The Occipital Lobe is located at the back of the head, posterior to or behind the parietal and temporal lobes. The occipital lobe contains the region that is devoted to processing light, primary visual cortex. Damage to this region in the left hemisphere will impair the ability to see within the right side of space, whereas damage to this region in the right hemisphere will impair the ability to see within the left side of space.
