General Interpretation

  • Factor A has no effect on the dependent variable (DV) when averaged over both levels of Factor B (identical row means in table; flat, dashed red line in left graph).

  • Factor B has an effect on the dependent variable (DV) when averaged over both levels of Factor A (different column means in table; non-flat, dashed blue line in right graph).

  • The effect of Factor A does not depend on the level of Factor B; it has no effect at both B1 and B2 (left graph). And, the effect of Factor B does not depend on the level of Factor A; its effect is similar at both A1 and A2 (right graph).
