The Hippocampus is a structure included in the Limbic System. This large curved structure found within the temporal lobe is essential for the ability to learn and remember.

The hippocampus is located between the thalamus and the cerebrum, toward the back of the forebrain. The fornix and fimbria are two large fiber tracts that connect the hippocampus to the hypothalamus and other structures within the limbic system.
