The waves of air pressure, trapped by the pinna of the outer ear, are conveyed to the middle ear via the Ear Canal.
A taut membrane called the Eardrum lies at the end of the ear canal. The characteristics of air waves hitting the eardrum are converted into corresponding vibrations of this membrane.
