I joined Athabasca University in 1979 and in 1981 became the sole psychologist in what was to become Psychology. I have pursued a holistic approach to psychology and education in my research and development. My work in experiential learning and the assessment of prior learning has spanned over 35 years. I have extended this work with studies in quality of life and transformative learning particularly the applications to career development. I have special interests in personal and professional development and community education. I currently coordinate the Athabasca University Certificate in Career Development. I would prefer to be found paddling a canoe than sitting at a desk.

I did my undergraduate studies in psychology at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario and graduated with M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Toronto in the field of educational psychology. Presently, I teach or coordinate the following courses:

PSYC 300: Theories of Career Development
PSYC 301: Career Development Resources
PSYC 305: The Career Portfolio
PSYC 405: Creating a Working Alliance
PSYC 441/2: Experiential Learning and Reflective Practice 1/2
PSYC 443/4: Special Projects in Career Development 1/2
PSYC 401: Learning Through Life
